10 Best Party Tracks That Made Us Put On Our Dancing Shoes In 2016

Any New Year’s Eve party is incomplete without playing each and every single hit party track from the past year. And we have been quite lucky with 2016. There have been a bunch of dance numbers that can easily be compiled together as one non stop party playlist. Who would have thought that Kala Chashma will break records on YouTube and become the song with the most views, the fastest? Seriously there are memorable dance numbers that have come out this year.

Also, we should notice that most of the hit party tracks this year are a remake of some popular dance number – Kala Chashma, Kar Gayi Chull, High Heels, Laila Main Laila etc. But thankfully all of them have been at par with their originals. Imagine if all of them were bad! And also we have dark horses like Jhingat – that despite of being in a regional language became a massive hit across the country. We do hope that 2017 brings along more original dance numbers.

Put your dancing shoes on, and get ready to groove!

Sau Tarah Ke (Dishoom)

The song is extremely high on energy. Varun and Jacqueline’s kick ass dancing skills perfectly compliment the upbeat rhythm composed by Pritam. Sau Tarah Ke is perfect to blast through the speakers.

Salman Khan teams up with Vishal Shekhar for the first time and delivers this awesome dance number with a slight Haryanvi touch to it. Salman’s quirky moves make the video delightedly watchable.

So Fawad Khan can dance as well. Let’s Nacho sung by Badshah and Benny Dayal has a catchy music and has the potential to be the party anthem. Rap by Badshah is pretty hot.

Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor turn on their groove for this song that almost gives you a retro vibe. The entire feel of the song is very 80’s, but revamped for 2016!

Kala Chashma (Baar Baar Dekho)

The Katrina Kaif song is still rocking the charts. It has crossed 146 million views. Whoa! You might just be able to admire the melody of this song, if you are able to get over Katrina Kaif’s fabulous abs. The song is a rehash of a popular song from the 90’s. Badshah composed this groovy dance number, and also raps. Sidharth Malhotra joins the swag party with Kat, and the two of them rock the choreography.

Nachange Saari Raat (Junooniyat)

Yami Gautam and Pulkit Samrat’s energetic dance number was the only good thing about this film. Meet Bros  have brilliantly re-composed the hit punjabi number.

The Important Role Of Yo Yo Honey Singh In Desi Hip Hop

Yo Yo Honey Singh is a household name today in middle class, Bollywood-consuming India. Although his career has been tainted with controversies, he has unknowingly affected the geography and culture of Hip Hop in India. His  innocent contribution towards the popularization and awareness of the common people of India, towards Hip Hop, has been a secret success story.

In 2009, a friend sent me a song on titled, “Choot” which Honey Singh allegedly made (no disrespect to Badshah). The virality “Choot” generated was astonishing, especially because it happened at a time when YouTube was not the primary medium for music listeners.

Honey Singh has been popular with the critics and courts for his notorious lyrics on one end and for pop hits like “Lungi Dance, Char Bottle Vodka, etc” that he has delivered to the Indian audience on the other. Reminds me of a young Eminem who putting out, “Kill You“, which caused similar controversies in USA. No matter what Honey Singh wrote, his controversies drove his popularity and questioned India’s pillars of freedom of speech. How can a country like ours see Honey Singh’s misogyny brimming lyrics, as different from that of Eminem’s (No disrespect to Badshah).

Honey Singh remains one of the few rappers that actually penetrated the Bollywood Industry. To form an unbiased opinion, it becomes very important for us to distinguish between Commercial (read: Bollywood) music and non-commercial music. Although affected by bipolar disorder, Honey Singh was able to deliver the concept of Hip Hop to everyone who saw Chennai Express. This means that most kids in all corners of this country HAVE heard Honey Singh.

This does not mean that Honey Singh is a great rapper. He has achieved with his juvenile lyrics, what many highly talented rappers/producers in India only dream of achieving. However Honey Singh has a great team (his B’s) that he built himself (no disrespect to Raftaar). And the team is more important than the star itself, as I have come to learn. I’ve also learnt that the bait is as important as the fish fry. Soon the same listeners will explore other artists, like Naezy, Divine and Prabh Deepand before you know it, you have a Hip Hop scene. Not even Honey Singh knows he did that.

I dream that one day, Indian Hip Hop will brings consciousness to the world that establishes unity and peace. Be it the brilliant people behind Honey Singh or the heart felt lyrics of my comrades, Hip Hop takes its own course.

“Without the B’s, how can you make the Honey Singh“. – Smokey the Ghost.

Yo Yo Honey Singh Fans Send Him Covers Of Their Favorite Songs

Even though singer rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has been maintaining a low profile from a long time, he still keeps up with his fans. In fact, many of them send him cover versions of his songs, and this keeps the artist engaged all the time.

“Honey is extremely happy with the gesture of his fans. He is overwhelmed with the kind of love that he receives on various occasions. He can’t thank them enough,” says Singh’s spokesperson.

Singh has given hit tracks such as Blue Eyes, Main Sharabi, Lungi Dance and Party On My Mind. However, it’s his track from the film Yaariyan (2014) which seems to be a personal favourite with many of his fans.

“Honey receives a lot of cover versions of his track Blue Hai Paani from his fans on social media. Especially because the track has completed three years, his fans send him their love through this track. His fans were going berserk over the track and pouring in covers that they sung on Yo Yo’s social media handle on the occasion,” says a source.
